ISLAMABAD: Taimoor Kayani, former coordinator in Ministry for IPC, applauded Fawad Hasan Fawad’s initiative to write a letter to FIFA president, urging him to expedite the Pakistan Football Federation’s elections by March 15.
Kayani said that Pakistan football needed a legitimate elected body to steer the game out of its current crisis.
“We fully back the minister’s plea to the FIFA president. Football at the grassroots level has been frozen. Only an elected PFF can revive the game and end its misery,” he said.
He lamented that the Pakistan Premier League had been missing for four years.
“The NC has failed to hold a women’s championship. There is no sign of grassroots activity in football. Pakistan football has no voice in SAFF or AFC because we lack an elected football body. Our FIFA forward program has been stalled. The National Challenge Cup has been hanging for eight months.”

He also asked the minister to launch an inquiry.
“I urge the ministry to form an inquiry committee to probe why the National Women’s Under-16 and Under-19 teams were pulled out of the SAFF Women Championship and how Pakistan football teams travel without the government’s NOC.”
