Speculation is rife that Jose Mourinho could take over Newcastle United after Roma sacked him this morning. But the Magpies have no interest in appointing the former Chelsea and Manchester United boss, who has lost his touch in recent years.
Mourinho has a soft spot for Newcastle, dating back to his days under Sir Bobby Robson. He also attracted interest from Al-Hilal and Al-Ahli, two Saudi Arabian clubs with the same majority owners as Newcastle.

But Newcastle are sticking with Eddie Howe as their head coach, despite their recent struggles. They crashed out of the Champions League and Carabao Cup and slipped to tenth in the Premier League. But the club’s owners understand the challenges Howe faces, such as a long injury list and limited funds for transfers.
Darren Eales, Newcastle’s CEO, praised Howe’s progress and said: “He is a huge, integral part of our club. We hope he stays with us for many years.”
Mourinho, on the other hand, has seen his reputation decline. He failed to impress at Tottenham, where he finished sixth at best. He also won less than half of his games at Roma, who are ninth in Serie A.
Newcastle fans can rest assured that Mourinho is not in their plans. They need a manager who can inspire them, not one who has lost his magic.
