The wives and girlfriends (WAGs) of England players have been warned not to show off in the upcoming 2024 Euros for security reasons, LCSoccerHub Reports.
Heightened cases of attacks targeting high-profile Premier League and English footballers has been a cause for concern for security operatives in the UK.
On Boxing Day, Jack Grealish was in action for Manchester City in the Premier League against Everton when reports emerged burglars have attacked his multi-million pounds home in Cheshire and carted away valuables worth millions of pounds.
His partner, Sasha Atwood, 28, was in the property with his other relatives when they heard arcane footsteps upstairs and raised alarm. The burglars reportedly escaped immediately, varnishing from the property but had reportedly carted away jewelleries and watches worth millions of pounds.
Daily Mail reported Manchester Police had swung into action to track down and apprehend the culprits all to no avail.
Close sources reveal it is more likely the attackers may never get caught as they are apparently foreigners who left England immediately after the burglary operation.
Further reports reveal the attackers were given ‘inside information’ on Jack Grealish’s whereabouts before they attacked after a previous attempt in November 2023 did not go through.
In January 2024, Newcastle Joelington’s Darras Hall home was also burgled while the player and his family were at Etihad for a Premier League clash against Manchester City.
The player reportedly got a security alert on his phone and quickly alerted the police of the attack. A police helicopter was dispatched to the property. Despite an immediate and prompt response, the attackers could not be tracked down as they fled the property before the police arrived.
Properties such as jewelleries, and watches, worth millions of pounds including cash were also carted away.
In light of the rising burglary attacks targeting England footballers, their wives and girlfriends have been warned not to show off with costly jewellery as they prepare to join their partners for 2024 Euros in Germany, the Mirror reports.
The warning came as the footballers are more likely to leave their houses empty throughout the tournament which kicks off on June 14 to July 14, 2024.
England, who are favorites to win the tournament, have been drawn alongside Denmark, Serbia, and Slovenia.
