Nigeria Super Eagles have confirmed their 26-man squad for the double-header international friendlies against Ghana and Mali in the March international break.
It will be a rollercoaster matchup with the Black Stars of Ghana as the Super Eagles prepare to return to gears in their first match after finishing as runners-up in 2023 AFCON.
The match will also be the first the Super Eagles will play after the departure of the team’s Portuguese trainer Jose Peseiro, who led the three-time African champions to their 8th AFCON final in Cote D’Ivoire.
After the Ghana match, the team will take on Mali in their next friendly to wrap up the international window.
As per The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), the Ghana and Mali friendly will be played on March 22 and 26, respectively.
A 26-man squad has been unveiled by the Super Eagles ahead of the two matches.
There are a few new faces added to the squad but it is largely dominated by players who made the 2023 AFCON squad.
William-Troost Ekong is the major exclusion from the list. Meanwhile, Napoli star Victor Osimhen is leading the list of top players invited.
Leicester City duo Kelechi Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi are also in the squad, including Fulham duo Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey.
2023 AFCON hero Stanley Nwabali is back to the squad, headlining the goalkeeping department, including Francis Uzoho and Ojo Olorunleke.
Other top names called up for the squad are Ademola Lookman, Moses Simon, Sadiq Umar, and Taiwo Awoniyi.
