Liverpool are head-on with their push for a historic quadruple this season following another standout performance against Southampton in the FA Cup 5th-round.
The Reds, depleted with some of their top stars, comfortably saw off Championship side Southampton at Anfield to book a place in the FA Cup last 8.
It was another sterling outing for Liverpool’s kids once again as they put up a brilliant performance against the Saints.
Fast-rising Liverpool youngster Koumas made a sterling first-team debut for the Reds, scoring a minute before the break to give Liverpool the lead.
The teenage attacker fired a low shot on goal and it deflected off Bednarek’s heel to wrongfoot Southampton goalkeeper Lumley and loop into the net.
The second half nearly ended barren before Liverpool came up clutch again with the second goal in the 73rd minute. This time, another Liverpool youngster Danns was on target for the Reds. Receiving a pass from Harvey Elliot, the youngster composed himself and fired a low shot pass Lumley to double the lead.
Southampton were obviously set to give away the game as they struggled to make their chances count. Two minutes before regulation time, Danns was again on target for the Reds for his brace.
Aribo gave the ball away cheaply to Mac Allister. Allister attempted a strike on goal but the attempt was blocked by Smallstone. Conor Bradley got hold of the ball from Smallstone’s block and fired on goal again but Lumley punched it away.
The rebound from Lumley fell on a platter for Daans who fired into the back of the net to make it 3-0.
Liverpool ran out 3-0 winners after the final whistle to seal their place in the last 8 of the competition.
The win came just days after Jurgen Klopp led the team to EFL Cup final victory over Chelsea at Wembley to clinch his first trophy this season.
Top of the Premier League table, into the round of 16 in the Europa League, and qualifying for FA Cup last 8, it could be safely said that Liverpool’s quadruple dreams is still in shape.
