The Reds suffered a 3-1 defeat to Arsenal on Sunday, which saw them lose their top spot to the Gunners and also lose defender Ibrahima Konate to a red card.
Konate will miss the Burnley game due to his suspension, while midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai is also ruled out with a recurrence of a hamstring injury that he picked up on New Year’s Day.
Szoboszlai, who joined Liverpool from RB Salzburg in the summer, was expected to play a part in the Arsenal game, but felt a discomfort in the same area where he was injured before.
Manager Jurgen Klopp said that he could not take any risk with Szoboszlai and that he had to wait for further assessment. There is no clear timescale for his return, although some reports from Hungary suggested that he could be out for a month.
Another key player who is still sidelined is Mohamed Salah, who injured his hamstring while playing for Egypt at the Africa Cup of Nations in January.
Salah’s advisor, Ramy Abbas Issa, said that the injury was worse than first feared and that Salah would be out for between 21 and 28 days. This means that he could miss the games against Burnley, Brentford, and possibly Leicester City.
Salah has returned to Merseyside to continue his rehabilitation and has posted images of himself working out in the gym at Liverpool’s training ground.
One positive news for Liverpool is that midfielder Wataru Endo is available for selection after his international duty with Japan at the AFC Asian Cup ended with a quarter-final exit to Iran.
Endo, who joined Liverpool from Stuttgart in the summer, has impressed in his few appearances for the Reds and could provide some much-needed depth and quality in the midfield.
Klopp could also welcome back left-back Kostas Tsimikas, who has been out for six weeks with a broken collarbone that he suffered in a collision with Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka in December.

Klopp said that Tsimikas was close to being fit and that he just had to wait for the green light from the medical staff.
Liverpool will hope to bounce back from their defeat to Arsenal and keep their title hopes alive with a win over Burnley, who are struggling in the relegation zone.
