Kylian Mbappe put up a standout performance for PSG as the Ligue 1 giants blew away Montpelier in a heady Ligue 1 cracker on Sunday night.
In a potential farewell goal-hurl for the Ligue 1 dominos, Kylian Mbappe fired the away side into an emphatic victory to keep the Parisians en route to the Ligue 1 title.
Vitinha opened the scoring for the away side in the 14th minute before Kylian Mbappe added to the goal tally in the 22nd minute, thanks to an assist by Kolo Muani.
Montpelier were not ready to give in easily. Eight minutes after Kylian Mbappe’s goal, Nordin halved the deficit for the home side, scoring at the half-hour.
It was a nervy final 15 minutes of the first half as PSG battled to re-extend the lead with Montpelier fighting hard for the equaliser.
At the stroke of halftime, the home side were fully in the game. Savanier scored in first-half added time to peg down the dominant visitors to a 2-2 draw at the break.
Surrendering an early two-goal lead against Montpelier was frustrating for the Luis Enrique-led side but they had the second half to turn around the game and did so emphatically.
Five minutes into the second half, Kylian Mbappe fired the visitors into the lead again to bag his brace, thanks to an assist from Barcola.
Three minutes later, Lee Kang-in also registered his name on the scoresheet, latching on Kolo Muani’s assist to make it 4-2.
Montpelier crumbled after the quickfire double by Mbappe and Lee Kang-in. Meanwhile, Kylian Mbappe was not done with his goalscoring spree.
Three minutes after the hour mark, the outbound forward bagged his hat-trick to make it 5-2.
A minute before regulation time, Mendes completed the rout for the Parisians, scoring to make it a thumping 6-2 victory at the blast of the final.
