Manchester City completed a double over FC Copenhagen to book their slot in the last 8 of the 2023/24 Champions League quarterfinal.
The Cityzens got the job done with a clinical performance right from the start of the game as they dropped the curtain-raiser just five minutes into the game.
FC Copenhagen player McKenna committed a faux pas that led to the first goal after he was caught out from possession forcing the away side to concede a corner.
Julian Alvarez got it perfectly to Manuel Akanji who wasted no time delivering it with a perfect first-time right-footed finish.

Four minutes after Manuel Akanji’s strike, City doubled the lead through Julian Alvarez. The goal came from another corner kick.
Rodri had crashed a thunderbolt at the crossbar from the corner kick and the rebound failed on a platter for Julian Alvarez, the set-piece taker.
Alvarez then whipped his effort pass Grabara to make it 2-0. Grabara could have gathered the strike by Alvarez but allowed it to evade his grasp into the back of the net.
Copenhagen fought back to reduce the deficit after going two goals down. A good combination play between Elyounoussi and Oskarsson saw the former pull one back for the visitors a minute before the half-hour.
At the stroke of halftime, Norwegian goalscoring machine Erling Haaland made a mess of FC Copenhagen’s hard work as he scored in first-half added time to restore City’s two-goal lead before the break.
Far from a rollercoaster and engaging first half, the second half was bereft of goal prompts. The two sides failed to make the most of their limited chances and ended the second 45 without a goal.
City eased to a 6-2 aggregate victory over the Danish giants to book their place in the last of the Champions League.
