Real Madrid have agreed personal terms with Bayern Munich left-back Alphonso Davies in a boost to the club’s interest in the player.
Davies, 27, has a contract with Bayern Munich till 2025 but could leave the club in the summer at the end of the season.
According to the Athletic, Real Madrid have been in contact with Alphonso Davies’ representatives for the move long before they agreed personal terms with the player.
With 16 months left on his Bayern Munich contract, it is understood Bayern Munich are not willing to part ways with Alphonso Davies.
The Bavarians were interested in renewing their contract with the player but are now facing a hurdle of dissuading him from a move to Santiago Bernabeu.
Real Madrid’s interest has reportedly played a role in Davies’ decision not to renew his Bayern Munich contract.
Sources close to the player revealed he wants a new challenge with the Madrid-based club and is ready to push through a move in the summer.
Despite agreeing personal terms with Los Blancos, it is understood Real Madrid are not in a hurry to sign Davies.
Sources close to the LaLiga and European giants say Real Madrid are open to securing a move for Davies either this summer or in 2025.
The ball is now in the court of Bayern Munich either to reach an agreement with Real Madrid and sell Davies at the end of the season or lose the player on a free transfer at the end of next season.
According to Bayern Munich director Max Eberl, Real Madrid are open to Davies exit but will not allow him leave for free.
“Of course, the club won’t let contracted players go for free,” Eberl said.
Despite the crisis rocking the Bundesliga outfit recently with reports of an imminent overhaul plan, Alphonso Davies is considered key to the Bayern Munich squad.
However, the Bavarians could be forced to part ways with the player this summer instead of losing him on a free transfer.
Alphonso Davies joined Bayern Munich in 2018 and has racked up 180 appearances for the club, scoring nine goals. He has won the Bundesliga, Champions League, DFB-Pokal, and FIFA Club World Cup.
