Bayern Munich dropped points again in what could be a final blow to their Bundesliga title hopes this season, LCSoccerHub Reports.
The Bavarians share the points with Freiburg with a 2-2 draw at the Europa-Park Stadion.
Freiburg could not match the visitors’ dominant display but retained their deadly onslaughts and offensives.
With 17 attempts, the hosts refused to cower under the Bavarians’ mounting pressure and finally fought them to a standstill at the final whistle.
Against the run of play, they opened the scoring in the 12th minute, thanks to a brilliant effort from Gunter from outside the box. Gunter beat the odds and fired into the far corner to give the hosts the lead.
Bayern Munich ramped up their attempt to find an equaliser and it was a matter of time before their effort yielded result. Mathys Tel came up clutch for the home side firing from inside the box into the far corner to level the scores.
Tel’s strike was enough to tie the scores at the break with the game set for a nervy final 45.
Bayern Munich continued their dominant performance in the second half but could not find the back of the net until the 75th minute.
Jamaal Musiala edged the visitors close to what would have been their second consecutive victory.
Receiving the ball close to the area, Musiala skillfully stole his way through Freiburg’s defenders and found the back of the net from close range to make it 2-1.
Three minutes before regulation time, a hard-fighting Freiburg side clawed their charges back into the game, thanks to a superb 87th-minute volley from Holer. The goal pegged back the Bavarians to a 2-2 draw and it ended squares at the blast of the final whistle.
The draw has seen Bayern Munich drop points again on the Bundesliga title and could foreclose their chances of catching up with title contenders and league leaders Bayer Leverkusen who could go 10 points clear at the top with a win over Cologne.
