Fast-rising Turkish youngster Arda Guler scored his first Real Madrid goal as the Los Blancos closed in on winning the 2023/24 La Liga title with a 4-0 victory over Celta Vigo.
The LaLiga leaders eased pass Celta Vigo to extend the lead on top of the table, thanks to goals from Vinicius Jr and Arda Guler, including two own goals from Guaita and Dominguez.
Vinicius Jr opened the scoring for the home side in the 21st minute, thanks to a brilliant team performance by the hosts.
Celta Vigo did little to mount a response as Real Madrid continued on their dominant sail.
The Los Blancos had a chance to extend the lead but failed to convert a series of clearcut chances.
The first half ended 1-0 as the Carlo Ancelotti-led side failed to add to the tally going forward.
In the second half, scores of horrific defensive blunders by the visitors saw Real Madrid extend the score margin with ease.
First, was a Guaita own goal in the 79th minute. Reeling under heavy pressure from the hosts, it was just a matter of time before the visitors conceded again with the own goal proving a final blow to a possible comeback hopes.
In the 88th minute, another costly defensive blunder saw Dominguez score Celta Vigo’s second own goal to make it 3-0.
Arda Guler, who is gradually learning the cuts and ropes of the elite game with the Los Blancos, also got his name on the scoresheet in stoppage time to wrap up a deserved 4-0 victory for the home side.
The win has seen Real Madrid extend the lead at the LaLiga garner 69 points, 7 points clear of Girona in second place.
