Mohamed Salah has broken his silence after critics questioned his commitment to Egypt national team, LCSoccerHub Reports.
Mo Salah left Egypt AFCON squad, returning to Liverpool in England after he picked up an injury. The Liverpool star was forced off Egypt’s second AFCON group match against the Black Stars of Ghana due to injury.
Egyptian FA confirmed the former Chelsea star had picked up a hamstring issue and will miss two AFCON matches for the Pharaohs.
Days after Egypt confirmed an update on Mo Salah’s injury, the 32-year-old exited AFCON, traveling back to Merseyside to receive treatment.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp confirmed Salah’s return from AFCON in Bournemouth’s post-match press conference.
Klopp added the Egyptian forward will be allowed to rejoin Egypt AFCON squad should the Pharaohs continue on the tournament until his full recovery.
After Klopp’s submission on Salah, the player’s agent Ramy Abbass confirmed a more worrying update on Mo Salah’s injury. Abbass revealed the injury is more serious and Salah could tarry on the sidelines than previously thought, missing 3-4 weeks of action.
Meanwhile, critics had begun to blast Mo Salah for leaving AFCON after his injury. Egypt football legend Ahmed Hassan insisted Salah should have stayed through the tournament to support his teammates while undergoing treatment.
Other critics questioned his commitment to the national team. Reacting to the critics, Salah took to his X handle to clarify the circumstances that led to his AFCON exit after the injury.
According to him, both the Egyptian FA and Liverpool reached a consensus that he should be allowed to leave for treatment, hence it wasn’t his personal decision as against projections by critics.
He wrote in Arabic; Yesterday I started the treatment and rehabilitation program and I will do everything possible to be ready as soon as possible and return to the national team as was agreed upon from the beginning.”
