PSG president Nasser Al Khelaifi has lost his cool on Lionel Messi for disrespecting PSG after his departure, LCSoccerHub Reports.
Lionel Messi made a groundbreaking transfer switch from PSG to Inter Miami last summer. Following his departure, Messi has been vocal on how he struggled to adapt to life at PSG.
Lionel Messi’s PSG future was on the balance before he joined Argentina for the 2022 World Cup. After a difficult first season with the club in which he managed just 11 goals and 14 assists, Messi sparkled in his second French Ligue 1 season for PSG.
He scored 16 league goals with 16 assists in 32 games, including 4 Champions League goals. However, he was linked to an exit from the club after failed attempts on contract renewal.
Messi kept his experiences at PSG under wraps throughout his spell with the club but finally let the cat out of the box after his departure.
According to him, he struggled to balance his game with the French giants with quality time with his family. PSG apparently made it difficult for him and his family.
The uneasy relationship between Messi and PSG, coupled with a booing PSG fans forced the Argentine playmaker to leave the club.
Nasser Al Khelaifi blasts Messi for disrespecting PSG
Lionel Messi’s complaints about PSG has been met with a rebuke from the club president Nasser Al Khelaifi. Speaking with RMC Sports, Al Khelaifi said it is disrespectful for Messi to talk about PSG when he is not at the club.
He said;
“We talk when we are there. I have great respect for Lionel Messi but if someone wants to talk badly about PSG after his departure is not good. That is not respect. He is not a bad guy but I don’t like that. It is not just for him but for everyone.”
Towards the end of his contract at Parc des Princes, Messi skipped PSG training, traveled to Saudi Arabia with his family to honor his ambassadorial contract, and ended up being suspended from the club.
He was later reinstated after he tendered a public apology. It was evident the Barcelona legend was having a rough ride with the Parisians and was certainly set to leave the club.
