In an intense battle on Wednesday, Real Madrid and Manchester City emerged victorious, punching their tickets to the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals.
The match at Estadio Santiago Bernabeu saw Real Madrid and RB Leipzig locked in a tense stalemate in the first half. However, Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior broke the deadlock in the 65th minute with a clinical close-range finish. RB Leipzig’s Willi Orban managed to level the game with a header in the 68th minute, but it wasn’t enough to overturn Real Madrid’s 2-1 aggregate lead from the first leg. Real Madrid secured their quarterfinal berth with a narrow yet decisive victory.
Meanwhile, at Etihad Stadium, Manchester City put on a commanding display against Copenhagen. Manuel Akanji, Julian Alvarez, and Erling Haaland all found the back of the net for Manchester City, while Copenhagen’s lone goal came from Mohamed Elyounoussi. With a 6-2 aggregate win, Manchester City comfortably booked their spot in the quarterfinals.

The quarterfinal draws are scheduled to take place at the House of European Football in Nyon, Switzerland on March 15. Before that, the Round of 16 will wrap up on March 12-13 with exciting clashes between Arsenal and Porto, as well as Barcelona and Napoli on March 12, followed by Atletico Madrid versus Inter Milan and Borussia Dortmund against PSV Eindhoven on March 13.
