Bayern Munich have announced the signing of French defender Sacha Boey from Galatasaray for a reported fee of €35 million.
The 23-year-old has signed a contract that will keep him at the Allianz Arena until June 2028.
Boey is a versatile right-back who can also play as a winger or a centre-back. He joined Galatasaray from Stade Rennes in August 2022 and quickly established himself as a key player for the Turkish giants.
He made 27 appearances in all competitions, scoring four goals and providing six assists. He also helped Galatasaray win the Super Lig title and reach the last 16 of the Europa League.
The Bavarians are looking to strengthen their squad as they chase their 10th consecutive Bundesliga title and their seventh Champions League trophy.
Boey expressed his delight at joining Bayern and said he is looking forward to working with manager Thomas Tuchel and his new teammates. He said: “I am very happy and proud to join Bayern Munich, one of the best clubs in the world. I want to thank Galatasaray for giving me the opportunity to play in Turkey and for their support. I had a great time there and I will always have a special place for them in my heart. But now I am ready for a new challenge and I can’t wait to start playing for Bayern. I hope to contribute to the team’s success and to win many titles with them.”
Tuchel welcomed Boey to Bayern and praised his qualities as a player and a person. He said: “Sacha is a very talented and versatile defender who can play in different positions and systems. He is also a very intelligent and humble young man who has a great attitude and a strong work ethic. He will fit in well with our squad and our philosophy. We are very happy to have him with us and we are confident that he will make a positive impact on our team.”
