Klopp’s signing of attacking duo Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo saw Roberto Firmino dropped down the pecking order.
Despite his limited game time, Roberto Firmino did not lose his goalscoring spark, and usually put on an impressive shift each time he is subbed on.
Klopp was keen on renewing Firmino’s contract but the 32-year-old wanted a new challenge to breath life back to his career.
He bade farewell to the Reds after a terrific 8 years with the Merseyside club in which he scored 82 goals in 256 Premier League appearances.
Joining two other Liverpool legends, Dean Henderson and Fabinho, Firmino called a quit on his career at Anfield after last nostalgic performance against Arsenal in the Premier League.
On 4 July 2023, Firmino joined the massive exodus of top Premier League and European footballers to Saudi Arabia. He signed for Al-Ahli on a three-year contract as a free agent.
The former Hoffenheim star started his Al-Ahli career on a bang. On his first competitive match for the club, he scored a hat-trick.
After the terrific competitive debut for Al-Ahli, Firmino has struggled with a dragging goal drought. In 17 Saudi Pro League matches, he is yet to add to the tally and is reportedly unfazed with the goal drought.
According to talkSport, Firmino could be set for a shock return to the Premier League with Fulham and Sheffield United interested in a move for the player.
The Mirror adds Fulham has been offered a chance to sign Roberto Firmino with Al-Ahli ready for a possible loan deal.
The move could see the Liverpool legend make a return to the Premier League.
