Oscar Bobb Stoppage-time Masterclass Wins EPL Goal Of The Month [Video]

Oscar Bobb raised the bar in the Premier League with a glorious masterclass of a goal to win the Premier League Goal of The Month Award for January.

Bobb, 20, has been gradually moulding the bricks of his career with Manchester City, and on January 13, 2024, the Norwegian sensation capped his stellar start to life in the Premier League with a crucial and stunning late-winner for City against Newcastle United at St James’ Park.

City had gone into the lead in the 27th minute, thanks to a brilliant effort by Bernardo Silva. Few minutes after Silva’s opener, Newcastle United clawed their charges back to the game.
Alexander Isak found the equaliser for the hosts in the 35th minute pegging back City to a dramatic 1-1 draw. Two minutes after Isak’s goal, Anthony Gordon came up clutch for the Magpies, scoring a stunner to put the home side in front.

The quickfire double by Isak and Gordon overturned the game in a flash with City trailing at the break by a goal deficit.

The Premier League title hopefuls would need a 74th-minute strike by substitute Kevin de Bruyne to restore parity.

After De Bruyne’s goal, City needed a late magic by an unlikely source Oscar Bobb to complete the turnaround. De Bruyne had spotted Bobb overrunning Kieran Trippier. He then floated a long pass to the player, who darted pass Trippier and close up on goal. Spotting the danger, Newcastle goalkeeper Martin Dubravka rushed out for the ball but a well-composed Bobb perfectly rounded him and slotted the ball into the back of the net with a quick juggle with his two legs.

It was a sensational goal by the youngster and what a way to break his goal duck in in his 7th Premier League appearance since his breakout this season.

The goal was nominated for the Premier League Castrol Goal of the Month for January, and it beat other top goals in the month with most votes to win the award.

The 2003-born Norwegian young talent will be hoping to continue on his prolific start to life with the Premier League and European champions.
