Kylian Mbappe’s future at Paris Saint-Germain remains uncertain, as coach Luis Enrique avoided answering questions about the star forward’s plans to leave the club this summer.
Mbappe, who has been linked with a move to Real Madrid, reportedly informed PSG that he wants to end his seven-year spell in Paris at the end of the season, when his contract expires.
However, Enrique, who took over PSG six months ago, refused to confirm or deny the reports, saying he will only comment when the parties involved speak publicly.
“I’m not going to comment on it until the parties involved have given their opinion, and I’m not going to comment on it,” Enrique said at his press conference on Friday, ahead of PSG’s Ligue 1 game away to Nantes on Saturday.
“I’m the coach. When the parties speak, I’ll give you my opinion, but we’re continuing to work so that we can continue to be a better team every year.”
Enrique also stressed that the team is more important than any individual player, and that the club’s policy is to put the collective above the personal.
“The team is above everyone else, above all the individuals, and that’s the same policy for the whole club,” he said.
“That’s our message: the club and the team are above any individual.”
PSG are currently leading the Ligue 1 table by 11 points from Nice, and have a game in hand over their closest rivals. They are also in the last 16 of the Champions League, where they will face Real Sociedad next week.
Mbappe has been a key player for PSG this season, scoring 31 goals in all competitions, including 20 in the league. He also helped France win the World Cup in 2022, where he was named the best player of the tournament.
The 25-year-old joined PSG from Monaco in 2017 for a record fee of £165.7 million, and has won four league titles, three French Cups and two French League Cups with the club.
However, he has also been frustrated by PSG’s failure to win the Champions League, and has been vocal about his desire to play for Real Madrid, his childhood club.

Last summer, he agreed to extend his contract by one year, allowing PSG to receive a transfer fee for his departure, rather than losing him for free.
But with the summer transfer window approaching, Mbappe’s PSG exit seems inevitable, unless Enrique and the club can convince him to stay.
