Manchester United loanee to Getafe Mason Greenwood has moved to have the Spanish FA drop their investigations on Jude Bellingham, LCSoccerHub Reports.
On February 6, 2024, a LaLiga match between Real Madrid and Getafe descended into a full-blown row pitting Mason Greenwood and Jude Bellingham against each other.
There was no love lust between both as the pair fell out bitterly after Bellingham launched a strong tackle on the United loanee to force the ball out of play.
Greenwood was unfazed with Bellingham’s tackle and the Real Madrid star was equally angry with the opponent.
In a footage on social media, Jude Bellingham’s reaction to Greenwood after forcing the ball out of play called for questions with some fans claiming he was abusing Greenwood with a slur after the faceoff.
Although what Bellingham said in the footage wasn’t audible, some fans claim he was calling Mason Greenwood a ‘rapist’ in the footage.
Getafe reported the incident to LaLiga who released a statement that they will begin a probe of the incident by hiring a lip reader to decipher what Jude Bellingham actually said to Mason Greenwood.
Now, according to the Sun, Mason Greenwood has moved to stop the ongoing Investigation into the fallout as he doesn’t want Jude Bellingham to be punished.
Quoting a source, the Sin says;
‘Greenwood doesn’t want bad publicity and wants to get on with playing football.
‘He was very upset at the time as he didn’t expect it from someone like Jude.
‘But he knows he’s always likely to be a target for that kind of stuff so he’s accepted he’ll need a thick skin.’
Greenwood was arrested and charged with sexual assault and rape before the charges against him were dropped.
Manchester United suspended him from the squad for 18 months due to the allegations for which he was later cleared by the club’s internal investigators before he was loaned to Getafe to restart his career.
