FT: Manchester United 2-0 Everton, United Scrape Pass Toffees With Fernandes & Rashford Spot-kick Goals [VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS]

Manchester United are back to winning ways as they edged out Everton at Old Trafford to secure all three points in the Premier League, LCSoccerHub Reports.

Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes scored two spot-kick goals as the Red Devils scraped pass Everton to relaunch themselves into the Premier League top-four race.

In a heady atmosphere at Old Trafford, Everton shot themselves in the foot when they conceded a spot-kick in the 10th minute.

Rashford had found Alejandro Garnacho, who paced his way into the area before being brought down by Tarkowski. The referee blew for a penalty but the attempt was checked for an offside before the penalty was allowed to stand.

Bruno Fernandes stepped up to take the spot-kick. The Portuguese failed to round Pickford but his strike was powerful enough to beat the England goalie as he drove it into the bottom-right corner.

It was a nervy interval between United’s first goal in the 12th minute and the second goal in the 36th minute.

Everton have been menacing on the attack, pushing for an equaliser but were dealt a big blow when Garnacho won a spot-kick again for Manchester United after he was clipped down in the box by Godfrey

Bruno Fernandes, who converted the first spot-kick, gave the second to Rashford. Rashford timed his run and perfectly rounded Pickford to score as he fired into the bottom-left corner.

Six minutes after the hour-mark, Manchester United were two goals up, no thanks to the two clumsy moments by the Toffees that cost them the game.

United went into the break with the lead and forced the visitors to a barren draw in the second half to run out with a 2-0 victory.

The win against the Toffees has seen the Red Devils close the gap on Tottenham Hotspur in 5th place to 3 points with the latter having two games in hand.

They are still miles away from the top-four with Aston Villa headlining the race for a Champions League slot with 55 points.
