As part of terms of agreement with River Plate, the 18-year-old youngster will continue his career on loan with River Plate in Argentina Primeira Division until December 2024.
As per Fabrizio Romano, Manchester City will pay £14.5m as transfer fee for the youngster plus £9m add-ons.
However, the add-ons will not include titles won by Manchester City – a move which buttresses the competitiveness in the star-studded side and the likelihood of Echeveria spending months on the bench before tasting action with the club.
Moreso, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has began rolling out the budding young talents for first team action, hence Claudia Echeveria will be expected to fight for his place in the team.
Echeveria has only managed four appearances for River Plate but his exploits with Argentina youth sold dreams to his potential suitors.
Playing as an attacking midfielder, the young footballing sensation is known for his pace, creativity, and great eye for goal.
He started out his career with River Plate U-20 before joining the club’s reserve team in 2022/23 season. The next year he transitioned to River Plate first team, and has won 4 caps with the club.
Echeveria emerged into the global spotlights with his heroics for Argentina U-17. He scored 13 goals for the team in 23 appearances, including 5 goals in the just-concluded FIFA U-17 World Cup.
Top European clubs such as Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, PSG, Inter Milan, AC Milan, and Barcelona were all linked to Echeveria following his breakout with River Plate and prolific run with Argentina U-17.
The 18-year-old will be the second Argentina and River Plate youngster to join Manchester City after Julian Alvarez.
