Manchester United fans are eagerly awaiting the dawn of a new era at Old Trafford, as Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his INEOS group prepare to take charge of the club’s football operations.
The billionaire businessman, who is worth an estimated £17.5billion, has agreed to invest £1.3billion in exchange for a 29 per cent stake in United and full control of the club’s sporting decisions.
The deal is expected to be approved by the Premier League in the first week of February, paving the way for Ratcliffe to implement his vision of “ruthless” change at the club.
One of the first areas that Ratcliffe intends to shake up is the club’s recruitment department, which has been widely criticised for its lack of direction and coherence in recent years.
According to reports, Ratcliffe is planning to appoint a new director of football, who will oversee the club’s scouting, transfers, and academy.
The Telegraph claims that Ratcliffe wants Omar Berrada, the club’s new chief executive, to have a say in the director of football hire, as he aims to create a unified and efficient system at the club.
Berrada, who was poached from Manchester City in a stunning coup, is seen as a key figure in Ratcliffe’s revolution, as he brings a wealth of experience and expertise in the football industry.
Ratcliffe is also expected to purge the club’s existing recruitment team, which includes the likes of John Murtough, Matt Judge, and Nicky Butt.

The INEOS boss is not satisfied with the club’s performance in the transfer market, and wants to bring in fresh and innovative talent to help the club compete with the likes of City, Liverpool, and Chelsea.
Ratcliffe, who is a lifelong United fan, has made no secret of his ambition to restore the club to its former glory, and has vowed to back manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with the funds and resources he needs.
The 71-year-old has already shown his willingness to splash the cash, as he has sanctioned the signing of major names this January.
With Ratcliffe at the helm, United fans can expect more exciting signings and changes in the near future, as the club enters a new chapter in its history.
