FT: Luton 1-2 Man United: Red Devils Close In On EPL Top-four! [VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS]

Manchester United kept their top-four hopes alive as they saw off Luton Town to secure all three points at Kenilworth Road in the Premier League.

Rasmus Hojlund came up clutch for the Red Devils, scoring two quickfire goals to hand the Red Devils victory.

The Danish attacking sensation opened the scoring for Manchester United barely 60 seconds into the game.

Casemiro had floated a long ball over the top into Luton Town’s half. Bell had a chance to clear but messed up his attempt with pressure from Rasmus Hojlund who picked the ball and raced into the box. Luton Town goalkeeper Kaminski ran out to clear the danger but was rounded by Hojlund who then fired into an open net.

Six minutes after his opener, Ramsus Hojlund was on target for the Red Devils again after a corner. Luke Shaw took the corner but was cleared as far as Garnacho on the edge of the area. The Argentine then fired on goal and had the ball ricochet off Ramsus Hojlund’s chest, wrongfooting Kaminski and looping into the net.

Trailing by two goals in the opening 10 minutes of the game was a difficult start for the Hatters but it was a matter of time before the hosts pegged back the Red Devils with a lifeline goal.

Four minutes after Ramsus Hojlund’s second, Morris put one back for the hosts to cut down the deficit. Chong fired on goal and had his attempt deflect off Harry Maguire and loop close to goal. An unmarked Morris dived and planted a header on the ball to finish it brilliantly pass Onana.

Luton were back into the game after Morris’ goal with United struggling to contend with a more dominant display by the home side. It ended 2-1 at the break.

The second half turned barren with both sides unable to find the back of the net. Rasmus Hojlund, Marcus Rashford, and Bruno Fernandes came across one-on-one chances to extend the lead for the Red Devils but squandered them.

Luton Town also had a late effort that would have earned them an equaliser deflect off the crossbar.

United survived a nervy ending to the game to secure all three points and close up on the top-four race. They will return to action on Saturday, February 24, 2024, facing Fulham, in a Matchday 26 Premier League encounter while Luton Town will travel to take on Liverpool at Anfield
