Kylian Mbappe has finally decided to leave PSG for Real Madrid when his contract expires at the end of the season, LCSoccerHub reports.
Renowned football journalist Julien Laurens revealed the French footballing sensation will finally bring to an end a storied chapter of his career with PSG.
Sharing the report on his social media handle, Julien Laurens wrote, “Kylian Mbappe has decided to leave PSG at the end of the season to join Real Madrid!! The information was first revealed by Le Parisien earlier and is now confirmed. At 25, he feels it is the right time take his career to new dimension.”
Mbappe’s decision to leave PSG was long envisaged following his decision not to renew his contract with the club. He was plunged into a contract renewal standoff that nearly grounded his career at the French capital as PSG insisted he will not be allowed to leave for free.
Mbappe had reportedly turned down two more contract proposals from PSG as he pressed on with his resolve to leave the club at the end of the season.
LCSoccerHub understands PSG wanted to keep Kylian Mbappe at all cost but they weren’t objecting to his exit either. The Ligue 1 giants only resisted a transfer exit that will see the club lose the highly-rated youngster on a free transfer.
The two parties fell out temporarily last summer with Kylian Mbappe dropped from the club’s preseason tour and axed off first-team action.
Despite a strong-hand response by the PSG hierarchy, Mbappe remained headstrong with his decision not to sign a new contract.
With the row spilling out of control, a showdown talks was convened with PSG finally conceding and allowing the youngster return from the pariah bench to first-team action.
Since returning to first-team action, Kylian Mbappe has continued on his stellar career run with PSG. He has scored 20 league goals, providing 4 assists for the club this season.
He has also scored 5 goals in French Cup, one in Trophee Des Champions, and 3 goals in 2023/24 Champions League.
His exit will mark the end of an era in PSG as he will be the third of PSG’s attacking trio comprising of Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe to leave the club.
