Jurgen Klopp has confirmed Mohamed Salah is back to Liverpool training after his short injury layoff, LCSoccerHub Reports.
Speaking ahead of Liverpool’s Premier League clash against Brentford, Klopp revealed Salah is back to full training and will be in contention to feature for the Reds against the Bees.
”Salah is back to full training and is in contention to start for the team,” Jurgen Klopp says.
Mohamed Salah picked up a hamstring injury in the just-concluded 2023 AFCON tournament. He was flown back to Liverpool for diagnosis and rehabilitation after the injury blow.
The 32-year-old’s injury sparked a row with Egypt football legends questioning the integrity and loyalty of the player after he left Egypt AFCON squad to fly to Merseyside for his recovery.
The critics insisted he would have continued with the team till his recovery instead of making the posh trip back to Liverpool.
Reacting to the critics, Salah took to his social media handle to clear the air on the miscues of his premature AFCON exit after the injury. According to him, it was not his sole decision to exit the tournament but an agreement between Egypt FA and Liverpool.
The footballing sensation added he is fully committed to the national team and would not have exited the team without the decision of the FA.
Salah has missed weeks of action for Liverpool. He was a glaring absence in the attack as the Reds traded tackles with Arsenal at Emirates Stadium in the Premier League. The match happened to be Liverpool’s only defeat in his absence as the Reds settled for a 3-1 oss to the Gunners.
Save the Arsenal match, Liverpool won all their games without Salah and are still heavily in the race for the Premier League title.
The return of Salah will definitely add more impetus and momentum to the team’s attack going forward. However, Klopp did not put it straight that the Egyptian sensation will feature in the Reds’ next feature against Brentford.
The German tactician said Salah could be in contention; meaning he may or not play. Nevertheless, Liverpool fans will be hoping to have the prolific winger back as the battle for the Premier League title gather momentum with Manchester City and Arsenal in strong positions to lead the race.
