Real Madrid moved two points clear at the top of La Liga after a 2-0 win over Getafe at the Estadio Coliseum on Thursday night. Striker Joselu scored both goals for Los Blancos, who extended their winning streak to six games in the league.
Joselu, who joined Real Madrid from Espanyol in the summer, opened the scoring in the 14th minute with a powerful header from a Lucas Vazquez cross. He doubled his tally in the 56th minute with a sublime curling shot from the edge of the box, after a clever pass from Vinicius Junior.
Getafe, who are currently 10th in the table, had their chances to get back into the game, but were denied by the woodwork twice. Mason Greenwood, on loan from Manchester United, hit the post with a snap shot in the 49th minute, while Borja Mayoral, a former Real Madrid player, also struck the upright in the 75th minute.

Real Madrid goalkeeper Andriy Lunin, who was making his debut in place of the injured Thibaut Courtois, had a relatively quiet night, but made a couple of good saves when needed. The Ukrainian also became the first keeper to keep a clean sheet on his La Liga debut for Real Madrid since Iker Casillas in 1999.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side now have 55 points from 22 games, two more than second-placed Girona, who have a game in hand. The two teams will face each other in a crucial clash at the Santiago Bernabeu on February 18th.
Getafe, meanwhile, remain in the middle of the pack, with 30 points from 22 games. They will hope to bounce back from this defeat when they visit Osasuna on Sunday.
