Getafe took the lead in the first half, when Nemanja Maksimovic scored from a header after a free-kick.
The away side looked dangerous on the counter-attack, and Borja Mayoral almost doubled their advantage, but his pass was not converted.
Villarreal equalized in the second half, when Alberto Moreno pounced on a rebound from a Jorge Cuenca shot and slotted it in at the near post.
The home side pressed for a winner, but they were denied by a goal-line clearance from Getafe, who blocked a Mason Greenwood attempt.

The result leaves Getafe four points behind the European spots, while Villarreal move nine points clear of the relegation zone. Both teams will hope to improve their form in the next matches.
