Arsenal fans, brace yourselves. Kylian Mbappe, the world’s most wanted player, is reportedly open to joining the Gunners. But there’s a catch. He earns a staggering £62m a year at Paris Saint-Germain. How can Arsenal afford that?
Well, they can’t. Not without making some drastic changes to their wage bill. Mikel Arteta would have to get rid of some of his highest earners to make room for Mbappe. But who could be on their way out?
Let’s start with Thomas Partey. He’s been a flop since joining from Atletico Madrid. He’s hardly played due to injuries and he’s costing Arsenal £10.4m a year. He’s got to go.
Then there’s Aaron Ramsdale. He’s the second-choice keeper behind David Raya. He’s hardly getting any game time and he’s pocketing £6.2m a year. He’s not worth it.
Next up is Jorginho. He’s out of contract in the summer and Arsenal have no plans to renew it. He’s on £5.7m a year and he’s not getting any younger. He can leave for free.

Another one is Kieran Tierney. He’s on loan at Real Sociedad and he’s loving it there. He’s also on £5.7m a year and Arsenal have plenty of options at left-back. He can stay in Spain.
That’s four players gone and £27.9m saved. But that’s not enough. Arsenal would need to sell three more players to afford Mbappe. Who could they be? Find out in the next article.
