Gundogan reaches 100 chances milestone in Barca's rout of Getafe

Ilkay Gundogan was the creator in chief for Barcelona on Saturday, as he became the first player in Europe’s top leagues to create 100 chances this season. The German midfielder helped Barca thrash Getafe 4-0 in La Liga with his vision and passing.

Gundogan joined Barca from Manchester City in the summer and has been a key player for Xavi’s side. He has scored six goals and provided 12 assists in all competitions.

But Barca have also missed a lot of chances this season. They are the highest scorers in La Liga with 56 goals in 26 games, but they could have scored more. Xavi said that ‘big data’ shows that Barca would be top of the table if they had been more clinical.

Xavi has also praised Gundogan for his overall game, not just his goals and assists. He said that Gundogan is an important player for Barca and the way he wants to play.
