FT: Tottenham 2-1 Brighton, Johnson’s Stoppage-time Strike Seals Dramatic COMEBACK! [VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS]

Liverpool have returned to the summit of the Premier League table after a deserved 3-1 victory over Burnley, LCSoccerHub Reports.

It was a sloppy and disappointing start for Liverpool in the first half. Burnley perfectly had the game in control.

The Clarets registered the first big chance of the game in the 9th minute. Liverpool midfielder Mac Allister had lost possession on the halfway line, allowing the visitors to spring a quick counterattack. Amdouni picked the ball from the Reds’ half and found Fofana who went for a goal and had his effort hit the crossbar and bounced off. It was a close attempt but the offside flag was raised.

Five minutes later, O’Shea, who would score a late equaliser at the stroke of half-time for Clarets, was booked for obstructing Liverpool goalkeeper from playing a quick pass to his teammate for a goal-kick.

Liverpool began to gradually establish their presence in the game in the 20th minute. They completed more touches in the opponents’ box but it was still a deadlock against Burnley’s resilient backline.

The goal deadlock was finally broken a minute after the half-hour mark and it came from Liverpool’s first shot on target. Alexander-Arnold, known for his dangerous outswingers, was again on the role for the Reds. The England right-back delivered a perfect corner-kick into the area. Burnley goalkeeper Trafford had a chance to clear it but failed allowing Diogo Jota to head home with a simple finish.

After the goal, Liverpool continued on their dominant display and came close to doubling the lead six minutes later. Robertson had his shot blocked by a sliding O’Shea.

The home side were still leading by a lone goal and were close to heading into the break with the lead before O’Shea pulled a late stunner, scoring an equaliser to even the score. The goal came from a corner-kick. Brownhill had curled in his effort into the area and O’Shea broke free of Wataru Endo to head home the leveler. It ended squares at the break.

Liverpool stepped up proceedings in the second half, pushing hard to return to the lead.

In the 52nd minute, the Reds went ahead for the second time in the game. Elliot picked the ball on the right and quickly explored options before passing to Luis Diaz who headed it home to make it 2-1. The goal was checked both for a foul and offside but it was allowed to stand.

In the 79th minute, Liverpool wrapped up the game with their third goal. Robertson had his outswinger from a corner-kick cleared by Burnley but the clearance fell on a platter for Jota, who attempted a strike which was blocked. Picking the ball again, he found Elliott. Elliot lifted a cross to Darwin Nunez, who headed it pass Trafford to make it 3-1.

It ended 3-1 at the blast of the final whistle with Liverpool sealing victory to return to the Premier League top.
