FT: Chelsea 4-2 Leicester, Blues QUALIFY For FA Cup Semifinals With Late Win [VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS]

Chelsea survived Leicester scare at Stamford Bridge to ace through to the semifinals of the 2023/24 FA Cup, LCSoccerHub Reports.

The Blues started on the front foot and it was not long before they raced into the lead in the 13th minute.

Marc Cucurella fired the hosts into the lead, thanks to a good assist by former Villarreal and Senegalese forward Nicolas Jackson.

Despite taking the lead, the Blues were still on the ascendancy going forward. 13 minutes after Marc Cucurella’s opener, they bumped into a golden opportunity to double the lead. Raheem Sterling had won a spot-kick but ended up missing it.

At the stroke of the break, the Blues’ dominance finally paid off with Cole Palmer, scoring his 14th Chelsea goal on his debut season with the club.

Leicester City improved their game in the second half and it wasn’t long before they halved the deficit, no thanks to a ludicrous own goal by Axel Disasi.

11 minutes after the blunder by Axel Disasi, Leicester City clawed their charges back into the game. Mavdidi, latching on an assist by Drewsbury-Hall, restored parity for the away side.

The game was set for a nervy finish with the score tied at 2-2 but Leicester City were set to lose out with Doyle sent off for a wild tackle in the 73rd minute.

Chelsea leveraged the numerical advantage to pump in more pressure on the visitors trying to regain their lead but they had to wait until stoppage time to break down the Foxes’ defense.

Carney Chukwuemeka and Noni Madueke scored in the 90+2nd and 90+8th minute, respectively to hand the Blues a win at the death.

The 4-2 victory has seen the Mauricio Pochettino-led side progress to the last four of the competition, keeping their silverware hopes alive.
