Enzo Fernandez has been in sensational form for Chelsea since joining the club from Benfica in January 2023. The Argentine midfielder, who helped his country win the World Cup in 2022, has scored seven goals in all competitions, including two stunning strikes in the last week.
The 23-year-old showed his flair and composure when he ran 60 yards to finish off a counter-attack in the 3-1 win over Crystal Palace on Monday night. He also scored a brilliant free-kick in the FA Cup victory over Aston Villa last week.
Enzo spoke to the Chelsea website about his recent performances, his partnership with fellow South American Moises Caicedo, and his hopes for the rest of the season.
‘I’m very happy with the way things are going,’ he said. ‘I’m enjoying playing for this club, with these team-mates and this manager. I always try to give my best and help the team. I’m glad I’m scoring goals, but the most important thing is to win games and trophies.’
Enzo praised Cole Palmer for his assist in the Palace game, and said he decided to join the attack because he saw a lot of space. He also revealed that he did not feel comfortable in the first half, when Chelsea were trailing, but that the team improved in the second half and found more spaces.
He also credited head coach Mauricio Pochettino for his tactical changes, and said he was happy to play with Caicedo, who he described as a ‘great player and a great friend’.

‘We have a good connection on and off the pitch,’ he said. ‘We understand each other very well and we complement each other. He’s a very strong and dynamic player, and I think we can do a lot of damage together.’
Enzo said he was looking forward to the upcoming games against Manchester City and Liverpool, and that he was confident Chelsea could win both the Premier League and the Carabao Cup.
‘We have a lot of quality and a lot of ambition,’ he said. ‘We know we have to work hard and be focused, but we also have to enjoy ourselves and play with freedom. We have a great chance to make history and we want to take it.’
