Barcelona faced a setback in their goalless draw against Athletic Bilbao as they suffered a double injury blow with Frenkie de Jong and Pedri forced off the field due to injuries.
The Catalan side failed to secure all three points in Sunday’s league fixture, missing the opportunity to narrow the gap to league leaders Real Madrid.
De Jong’s injury occurred in the 26th minute when he awkwardly landed on his ankle after a challenge for a high ball.
The Dutch midfielder, making his 150th Barcelona appearance, had to be replaced by 20-year-old Fermin Lopez.
Pedri, on the other hand, had to leave the pitch in the closing stages of the first half due to a muscle injury, adding to Barcelona’s injury concerns.
Both players now face a spell on the sidelines, with De Jong potentially missing the crucial Champions League last-16 tie against Napoli on March 12.
