Chelsea waved aside their inconsistent Premier League run this season to secure a 3-2 Premier League victory over Newcastle United at Stamford Bridge.
Newcastle United started on the front foot but a costly defensive error saw the visitors concede in the 6th minute.
Nicolas Jackson had opened the scoring for Chelsea, capitalizing on Botman’s inability to clear his lines and a leaky Newcastle United defense to do the damage.
Cole Palmer whipped in the low-cross assist and an unmarked Jackson was left to flick it into the back of the net.
Newcastle United responded at the stroke of halftime. A great moment of quality by the Toons saw them outsmart Chelsea’s defense to poke home the equaliser in the 43rd minute.
Bruno Guimaraes had found Isak who finished brilliantly into the bottom-right corner. Isak’s equaliser was enough to see both sides go into the break with a draw.
In the 57th minute, Chelsea were back in front with Cole Palmer restoring the lead for the home side.
The former Manchester City star sleekly stole his way around Newcastle’s defense to drill home Enzo Fernandez’s pass into the net.
In the 76th minute, Mykhailo Mudryk sealed the win for the Blues rounding Dubravka from Conor Gallagher’s assist to net the Blues’ third goal.
At the stroke of regulation time, Murphy scored for Newcastle United to reduce the deficit and set the game for a nervy final minutes.
Chelsea survived the Magpies’ late pressure to secure a 3-2 victory at the blast of the final whistle.
