Wissa rallied Brentford back into the game, scoring at the stroke of halftime to cancel out Declan Rice’s 19th-minute strike.
It ended squares at the break before clutch Kai Havertz scored an 86th-minute winner to hand the Gunners all three points at the death.
With Liverpool and Manchester City set to go down in a top-of-the-table and title-deciding cracker the next day, Arsenal were under pressure to secure nothing less from all three points against the Bees to stay in the race for the Premier League title.
Declan Rice lit the game with a sparkling finish to steer Arsenal into the lead but a 45+4th-minute howlerb byAaron Ramsdale saw the Bees pegged back the Gunners to a 1-1 draw at the break.
Kai Havertz, who scored in the reverse fixture early in the season, was on target for the Gunners again in the 86th minute.
The German attacking midfielder scored a late thumping header to hand the Gunners a much-needed victory.
All eyes are now on the rollercoaster matchup between Liverpool and Manchester City set to go down at the Anfield today.

The victory over Brentford has seen Arsenal stay glued to the three-horse Premier League title race. The Gunners are more likely to fight on for the title this season but will face competition from Liverpool and Manchester City who are favorites to win the title.
Liverpool will overtake the Gunners on top of the table if they defeat Manchester City while a draw will see Arsenal retain the top spot with their superior goal difference.
Arsenal will play FC Porto in Champions League round 16 return leg in their next fixture. The Gunners, who lost the first leg by a lone goal in Portugal, will hope to defeat the Portuguese giants and overturn the deficit to qualify for the last 8 of the competition.
