FT: Arsenal 4-1 Newcastle, Gunners Demolish Newcastle To Keep Tabs On EPL Title Race [VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS]

Arsenal are in strong contention in the Premier League title race with their resounding victory over Newcastle United at the Emirates in matchday 26 clash.

It was a rout for the Gunners who put the Magpies to the sword with a deserved 4-1 victory to close the gap on second-placed Manchester City and
league leaders Liverpool.

Newcastle United reeled under heavy pressure from the start as Arsenal got off the mark with a fiery start. After penning down the visitors to the box with intense and constant pressure, the Gunners finally had their way in the 18th minute when Livramento’s failed goal-mouth clearance bounced on Botman and looped into the net.

Six minutes after Botman’s own goal, German attacking midfielder Kai Havertz tapped home a cross from Gabriel Martinelli to double the lead for the Gunners.

After a near-deadlock, it took Arsenal six minutes to overturn the game with a quickfire double before the break.

Despite leading by two goals before the break, Arsenal were still dominant even in the second half. Newcastle United cowered under Arsenal’s searing pressure and did little to make their mark in the game.

Another quickfire double in the second half saw the Magpies go down by another two goals to trail 4-0 before the 70th minute. A sheer individual brilliance by Bukayo Saka served the Gunners their third goal. The England star sped pass Livramento and fired a curved effort into the bottom-left corner to make it 3-0 in the 65th minute. Four minutes later, Jakub Kiwior nodded home Declan Rice’s inswinging set-piece to make it 4-0.

It was game over for Eddie Howe’s side. Former Arsenal player Joe Willock scored an 84th-minute consolation goal for the visitors as Arsenal ran out with a 4-1 victory to close the gap on Manchester City and Liverpool in the Premier League title race.

Arsenal are now third on the Premier League with 58 points, a point behind Manchester City in second place and 2 points behind Liverpool at the top.
