Despite missing their key man Mo Salah to AFCON injury, the Reds got off the mark against the Cherries with a five-star performance. The visitors needed victory to extend the lead at the top of the table with Manchester City, Arsenal, and Aston Villa all tied on 43 points, two points close to a catch-up.
Jurgen Klopp faced a tough test taking on Andoni Iraola’s revamped Bournemouth team who have won three of their last four home games, drawing one.
However, the Reds had the stats in their favor as they went into the game with eight wins in their last nine league meetings with the Cherries.
A fairly drab and dour first half saw both sides manage minimal chances but Liverpool were on the ascendancy throughout the game.
It was largely end-to-end in the first 45. Both sides attempted long-range attacking efforts but could not break the goal deadlock as the first half ended barren.
It was a rout in the second half. Liverpool started with a bang, hurling in goals with ease through a porous Bournemouth defense.

Darwin Nunez came up clutch for the visitors just two minutes into the second half. Curtis Jones started the attack finding Diogo Jota, who then located Nunez. The Uruguayan forward then paced into Bournemouth’s area and slid in a right-footed volley pass Neto.
The Reds were handsomely rewarded again in the 70th for their dominant display when Cody Gakpo found Diogo Jota, who then crashed the ball into the near post with a right-footed strike.
Nine minutes later, Diogo Jota doubled his account to put the game beyond the Cherries as he fired home a right-footed strike from a rebound into the bottom-left corner to make it 3-0.
Bournemouth made little attempt to mount a response as Liverpool continued with the rout. In the 90+3rd minute, Darwin Nunez bagged his brace to wrap up an emphatic victory for the Reds.
The game ended with the Jurgen Klopp-led side easing to a convincing 4-0 win to extend the lead on top of the EPL table to 5 points.
